We are looking for fresh new faces to host CologneMUN 2019! Specifically, the board members of the Cologne MUN Society e.V., who have been hosting the conference, are looking for replacements. The positions are:
President (who will be Secretary-General)
Vice-President (Chief of Staff)
Treasurer (USG Finance)
The Secretary-General is ultimately in charge of all logistical and academic matters of the conference. She or he will recruit the new staff and delegate duties to them. The Secretary-General also represents the conference publicly. You will shape the conference and determine its direction. It‘s an incredibly exciting task to take on, giving you a once in a lifetime opportunity to really put your mark on a project.
The Under-Secretary-General Finance is responsible for all financial matters, including budgeting and maintaining the account. All invoices will go through her or his hands. It’s a significant responsibility but very rewarding, as Lisa will be happy to tell you.
The board position of Vice-President will unfortunately be a temporary one. As the Verein and Hochschulgruppe will be merged early next semester, the position will be phased out. That does not mean, however, that you will lose your position in the Secretariat as Chief of Staff. The Chief of Staff is also Deputy Secretary-General and in charge of the interfacing the logistical aspects of the conference with the academic ones, e.g. booking rooms at the university according to the requirements of the committees. The Chief of Staff is also involved in the selection of chairpersons and committee topics as well as the allocation of delegates.
Please prepare your candidacy for one of the positions and present it at the general meeting (Mitgliederversammlung) on 7 August, 2018 (6pm at the Seminargebäude, Room S1), and then be elected by the members. You need to join the association if you want to be elected onto the board. If you cannot be physically present at the general meeting, please contact us and we’ll figure out a way to present your candidacy to our members (firstname.lastname@example.org).
If you do not want to apply for one of the board positions but still want to organise next year’s conference, you will have to be patient for a little longer. But you can contact us with your interest and we will forward it to the next Secretary-General who will recruit the new Secretariat.
If you have any questions, email email@example.com anytime and we will get back to you as soon as humanly possible. And, we are always up for a cup of coffee to explain to you how the election process works, what your responsibilities will be and answer any question you have.
